Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala shares lots of beautiful
prayers of Sayyidina Ibrahim (AS) through the Qur’an. I love reading his
prayers and think about how I can live by his prayers. Our Rabb told us through
surah Al Mumtahinah that his example is the best one to follow for those who
love Allah and look forward to meet Allah and thrive in the eternal life of
Akhira. So let us learn some of his precious prayers from Surah Ash-Shu’ara. It is the 26th chapter of the Qur'an and verses starting from verse 69 onwards.
At the start , Allah swt tells us his story where
he talks to his father and his people about the false gods (idols) they
worship.
And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. When he
said to his father and his people : “What do you worship?” They said: “We
worship idols and to them we are ever devoted.” He said: “Do they hear you when
you call them?” “Or do they benefit you or do they harm you ?” They said: “
Nay, but we found our fathers (ancestors) doing so.” He said: “Do you observe that which
you have been worshipping,” “You and your ancestors?”
“Verily! They are enemies to me, except the Lord of the
‘Alamin; Who has created me and it is He Who guides me; and it is He Who feeds
me and gives me to drink. And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me. And Who
will cause me to die and then will bring me to life again and Who, I hope will forgive
me my faults on the Day of Judgement.
My Rabb! Bestow Hukman ( religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs) on me and join me with the
righteous; And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; And make me
one of the inheritors of the Paradise of delight; and forgive my father ,
verily he is of the misguided; And disgrace me not on the day when all the
creatures will be resurrected. The day where on neither wealth nor children will
benefit, except him who brings to Allah a clean heart (clean from Shirk ie associationg partners and
Nifaq ie hypocricy).
